Welcome to the Oxenhope Strawrace

So the Straw Race draws to a close for another year and what a year!  We had the most beautiful day, with the sun shining from morning til night.  246 teams took part in the event and the spectators were out in full force.  It was such a fantastic sight to see everyone in their fancy dress and so many spectators lining the route cheering us all on. All the pubs and the Social Club did us proud with bands playing and barbeques providing the most delicious smells all along the course. We even had Elvis entertaining the crowds and runners alike.

Our sincerest thanks must go to everyone who helped make this year’s race happen – the pubs and Social Club, McDowell Tansport, Wyedean Weaving, Hodgson’s Transport, Smith Horner Design, Cullingworth Scouts, Cobbydale Scout Network, Keighley Scout Service Team, Keighley Rugby Union Club and countless friends and family of the organising committee who never fail to come up with the energy to pull pints, lug bales and generally keep the show on the road year after year.  Not forgetting of course all our fantastic runners who really put on a superb show.  Thank you all very much.
